Chevron Malaysia Limited (“Chevron”), which markets the Caltex® brand, saw that average daily ShopeePay transactions grew by five times within a month during its RM1 million cashback campaign in partnership with the mobile wallet. The initiative was touted to be a success as it attracted new and returning customers to Caltex.
The campaign, launched on 1 March 2021, was timely when the Government announced that the Movement Control Order (MCO) will be lifted and replaced with either the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) or the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) in respective states across the country.
As such, Malaysians willing to shift towards cashless transactions at Caltex stations had the opportunity to enjoy an RM8 cashback when they spent a minimum of RM30 and paid with ShopeePay.
Meanwhile, petrol consumption has been increasing since the Malaysian government abolished the mandatory work from home policy, thus allowing offices and factories to operate at maximum capacity.
“That said, we want to be able to continue being there for our consumers and help them in any way we can. Witnessing the success of the RM1 million cashback campaign, we will continue offering cashback rewards to our customers when they pay with ShopeePay at our stations,” Jay added.
While the campaign has ended, ShopeePay mobile wallet users at Caltex will continue to receive a RM3 cashback with a minimum spend of RM15. Each user is entitled to one RM3 cashback a day from ShopeePay. Terms and conditions apply.
